Details

The STIHL FS 85 is a powerful, efficient and lightweight petrol Brushcutter that can be fitted with a metal grass blade. This weed eater is a great choice for serious domestic and commercial trimming, edging, mowing and clearing applications.

The FS 85 has a bike handle - this configuration is designed for comfort during large scale mowing jobs. The STIHL 1-point anti-vibration system reduces vibrations for a more pleasant working experience, and ElastoStart ensures starting the Brushcutter is easy.

NOTE:

Your weed eater will require engine oil. We recommend STIHL HP TWO STROKE ULTRA ENGINE OIL for your machine.

STIHL ElastoStart Easy Starting

ElastoStart reduces the shock caused by the compression of the engine during starting. The compression shock is decreased through a spring or rubber element in the starter handle.
Bike Handle

When used in conjunction with a harness the bike handle enables a smooth mowing action from left to right. This handle configuration is ideal when mowing large areas.

Easy to Use Controls

Easy to use with thumb operated controls on the handle.
1 Point Anti-Vibration

Intense vibration at the handles of power tools can lead to long-term effects on blood vessels in the hands and arms. STIHL has developed an effective anti-vibration system where the oscillations from the machine's engine are dampened which significantly reduces vibrations in the handles.

Strong Solid Drive Shaft

Robust and capable of driving heavier attachments such as steel blades.
A Range of Mowing Heads and Grass Blades

The versatility of the machine is increased by being able to fit a range of different cutting heads and blades.

Primer

When you push the button a small fuel pump delivers fuel to the carburettor. As a result the machine is easier to start.
AutoCut Mowing Head

Double mowing lines, for trimming work around the garden. Mowing lines are automatically extended when the mowing head is tapped on the ground.

Full Harness

Using a harness makes trimming work more comfortable, particularly during lengthy jobs.

Great little machine

Easy to start every time, light and ergonomic to use. Also economical. I’ve used 250 and 450 models professionally in the past and this little 85 impressed me! The standard auto feed head has worked very well now for a year. I use mine in some fairly heavy pasture grass that borders our house area, around the firewood stacks and pond where it powers through some pretty rough weeds and long grass. For the really tough jobs, I fit the blade which cuts like a hot knife through butter. Sometimes wish I bought the 131 for the extra grunt, but most times this is more than enough.
