Details

The HTA 86 is a Battery Pole Chainsaw that is ideal for fruit growers and Arborists or for general property maintenance. It is lightweight but powerful and has a smooth cutting performance using the standard 1/4 inch PM3 chain. The Pole Chainsaw has the convenience of side chain tensioning and a captive nut of the sprocket cover. The HTA 86 has a telescopic shaft that can be extended from 270 - 390 cm.

The HTA 86 is part of our AP Cordless System - the battery can be used on a wide range of other tools from the AP range.

Run time with AP 300 S battery: Up to 68 min

Run time with AP 100 battery: Not recommended

Run time with AP 200 battery: Up to 42 min

Side Chain Tensioner

The chain tensioner is located on the side to prevent your hand coming into contact with the chain when adjustments are made.
Intuitive Control Handle

Easy operation for right- and left-handed users. The locking lever is self-resetting and prevents the tool from accidently being switched on.
Perfectly Balanced

The battery’s centre of gravity is located in the shaft axis, which balances the tool and prevents you from tiring too quickly.
Branch Hook

The sturdy branch hook can assist you to remove loose cuttings from trees.
EC Motor

The STIHL brushless electric motor (EC) is very energy efficient and practically maintenance free. Due to its outstanding efficiency, the battery power is translated into impressive performance. During operation, the electronically controlled EC motor permanently monitors the load and adjusts the engine accordingly.
Telescopic Shaft

The practical telescopic shaft extends from 270 to 390 cm allowing you to trim tall branches from the ground. The shaft length can be adjusted without tools using the rotatable clamping sleeve.

Low noise but powerful

I already had a similar size petrol pruning saw, and was pleased to find the battery powered saw almost as powerful. The extendable pole saw has enabled me to "tame" the vigorous growth of my Karaka trees. It is quite heavy, but I quickly learned how best to handle the fully extended saw. The battery life is incredible, and far exceeded my expectations. The pole saw now joins my matching pole hedge trimmer, sharing the same battery. Together they form a powerful team!

Quality long reach pole saw

More than enough battery life and grunt to trim 6 trees with up to 20cm branches. A little heavy on longest extension, but keeping angle small from perpendicular helps. Recommend for gardens that have a lot of mature medium to large sized trees. All my garden tools are now Stihl AP battery products, a little expensive but do job way better and have lasted longer than hardware store brands.

HTA 85

I was in two minds whether or not to get a battery or petrol pole saw, Taylor at Stihl Fosters convinced me a battery saw was the way to go, stating it was lighter, easier to handle and just as powerful as a petrol pole saw - and he was right, I got the AP300 battery with it, and this thing cuts up easy, it's also much easier to maintain and the battery lasts ages - if you get two batteries you'll never stop cutting - one charging and one cutting is the way to go - and given the ever increasing petrol prices, it's mile cheaper in the long run. Service from Fosters was as excellent as ever - thanks !
