Stihl petrol hedge trimmer

The product started reluctantly the first time which was to be expected. The instructions in the manual were good to overcome this . It is grungy and goes the job well. I was disappointed to see rust on the blades only 2 days later, would have expected higher quality steel from this brand

Thank for your taking the time to write a review. STIHL Blades are made from high quality tool steel, such metals will oxidise (surface rust), this is normal and should not be considered a concern. Moisture, ether from the vegetation or from rain, will accelerate the degree of surface oxidation. Typically, this has no ill effect. However, excessive exposure can lead to the blades being negatively affected. Protection and prevention of rust is a normal maintenance requirement for Hedgetrimmers. We recommend a product such as STIHL SuperClean before and after use. This will reduce the amount of surface oxidation and prolong blade life. https://www.stihlshop.co.nz/default/stihl-superclean-300-ml.html A degree of surface rust is inevitable (it’s actually a welcome protection to the integrity of the internal metal). Sometimes this surface rust can look scarier than it is and after a spray with a lubricant it can look ok. It is normal for the blades to lose their shine and have oxidation. I hope this provides some reassurance but if you are still concerned feel free to take your Hedge Trimmer into the local store for inspection. Kind Regards STIHL SHOP

Mixing fuel

This petrol Hedge Trimmer uses a 1:50 mixture of engine oil and petrol. We recommend STIHL HP ULTRA TWO STROKE ENGINE OIL as it is designed specifically for STIHL engines.

Improving the longevity of your Hedge Trimmer

STIHL tools are designed to last, you can increase the life of your HS 45 Hedge Trimmer further by keeping it clean after use, using only fresh STIHL fuel, and receiving a regular service at your local STIHL SHOP.

Your first free service

To ensure your tool is working efficiently we offer a first free service for all our petrol tools. This must be completed by your local STIHL SHOP after 5 hours of use or a month after purchase (which ever is first)

Ongoing service and technical support

Storing your Hedge Trimmer
