STIHL Water blaster range

WHICH WATER BLASTER OR PRESSURE WASHER IS BEST FOR MY CLEANING JOBS?

Water blasting is one of the fastest and most effective ways to clean outdoor areas such as your deck, driveway or house they are also great to wash down a muddy mountain bike, or to clean your outdoor furniture. Cleaning with a Water Blaster instead of a hose can also reduce water consumption (and it does a better job!)

WHAT IS PSI AND WATER FLOW?

Water Blasters and Pressure Washers range from small models suitable for weekend home use to large units that can be used daily for professional cleaning tasks at work. When researching which Water Blaster to buy there are two important specifications to look at: Water Pressure (PSI) and Water Flow Rate. The easiest way to understand these terms is: Water pressure is the power your Water Blaster or Pressure Washeer has to move the dirt and the flow rate refers to the amount of water you can get on a surface in the shortest amount of time to wash away the dirt.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SIZE WATER BLASTER

As is the case for all Outdoor Gardening Power Tools, bigger is not always better, it's best to choose the model that is most suited to your range of jobs, this is important for Water Blasters and Pressure Washers because for example using too much pressure on something like wood, stucco or plaster can cause damage to the surface. For home applications, the two most important questions to ask are “What kind of job(s) is the machine doing?” and “How often do you plan to do the job(s)?” .

WHAT KIND OF JOB(S) IS YOUR WATER BLASTER DOING?

Smaller size models are more suited to general property maintenance such as washing down your muddy mountain bike, car or deck. If you are looking at washing down your house, concrete floors, or even unblocking drains, you should consider a medium size model. Larger models are great for heavy-duty jobs such as cleaning large machines, long driveways, or even cleaning professionally.

HOW OFTEN ARE YOU USING YOUR WATER BLASTER?

Home users generally use their Water Blasters 6-12 times a year to complete small cleaning jobs, if this is the case an entry level model is all you need. If you use your machine more often it might be a good idea to invest more to gain extra features and convienence and well as greater PSI and Water Flow.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT WATER BLASTER: POWER SOURCE

If you have easy access to power supply and can finish your cleaning job without having to move around too much an Electric Waterblaster could be the right choice. In comparison petrol machines will go anywhere and offer higher pressure, flow and durability. All that is required with a Petrol Water Blaster is a reliable water supply.

ELECTRIC WATER BLASTERS

Waterblasters are generally more compact and lightweight compared to their petrol counterparts, they are also a lot quieter. They are ideal for smaller scale clean up, typically around the house or workplace where a power source is close.
