Details

The light MSA 161 T Cordless Arborist Chainsaw is ideal for tree climbing work in noise-sensitive areas. The MSA 161 T accelerates very rapidly and delivers fine, extremely precise cutting due to it's powerful EC motor and fast chain speed of 16 m/s (40% higher than its predecessor the MSA 160 T). The saw comes with a high-quality ¼ inch PICCO saw chain.

The MSA 161 T is part of our AP Cordless System - the battery can be used on a wide range of other tools from the AP range.

Run time with the recommended AP 200 battery: Up to 42 min

Run time with AP 100 battery: Not recommended

Run time with AP 300 battery: Up to 50 min

Run time with AP 300 S battery: Up to 62 min

Side Chain Tensioner

There is a tensioning screw on the side of the Chainsaw through the sprocket cover. This is easy to use and removes the need for contact with the sharp saw chain.

STIHL Electric Motor (EC)

The STIHL brushless electric motor (EC) is extremely energy efficient and does not require any maintenance. It ensures the tool has the optimum power output at all times. The motor runs quietly and generates very low vibrations.
Easy Open Oil Cap

A special cap on the oil tank allows easy opening and re-fueling.

Ematic Chain Lubrication System

A reservoir holds bar oil until it is picked up by the passing chain. This achieves maximum lubrication resulting in longer wear and less oil consumption.

A: We recommend that you wear snug-fitting clothes with Chainsaw protective trousers, glasses, gloves and sturdy boots or shoes, and tie back long hair.

Q: How long will the Battery last?

A: The recommended AP 200 Battery will last up to 42 minutes, this does depend on what is being cut and how the tool is being used.

Q: How long does it take to charge?

A: To fully charge an AP 200 Battery it takes 55 minutes, or to charge it up to 80%, it takes 40 minutes with the AL 300 charger.

Q: Are the Batteries Interchangeable?

A: Yes, all of the tools in the PRO Cordless System use the same style of battery. There are 7 different batteries in the range, which all have different capacities. For the MSA 161 T, we recommend the medium capacity AP 200 battery as it provides the perfect balance between weight and power. We do not recommend the AP 100 battery for this tool.

Q: Does the performance of the Battery reduce as it depletes?

A: No there is no gradual drop in performance – the battery runs at full power until it is fully depleted.
