The MS 311 Petrol Chainsaw is a full sized Chainsaw that can drive the larger 3/8 pitch saw chain - as used on our pro Chainsaws. It can handle felling firewood in medium density forests and is a great option for farmers. With our 2-MIX engine technology, you receive higher fuel economy for longer run times. The MS 311 also has larger fuel and oil tanks allowing you to work longer before refueling.

NOTE:

Your Chainsaw will require engine oil and bar lube. We recommend STIHL HP ULTRA TWO STROKE ENGINE OIL and STIHL SYNTH PLUS CHAIN LUBRICATION for your machine.

Modern, powerful and economical engine. Provides fuel savings and reduced emissions.
Anti-vibration System

Vibrations from power tools can lead to negative effects on blood vessels. STIHL has developed a system for minimizing the levels. This also helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.

Ematic Chain Lubrication System

A reservoir holds bar oil until it is picked up by the passing chain. This achieves maximum lubrication resulting in longer wear and less oil consumption.
Single Master Control Lever

All the important functions of start, choke, throttle and stop are operated via a single lever.

Easy Open Fuel and Oil Tanks

Special caps on the fuel and oil tanks allow for easy opening and re-fueling.
Reduced Air Filter Maintenance

A pre-separation filter system is used to clean the air before it reaches the main air filter. The benefit is that maintenance of the machine is reduced.

Side Chain Tensioner

There is a tensioning screw on the side of the Chainsaw through the sprocket cover. This is easy to use and removes the need for contact with the sharp saw chain.
Controlled-delivery Oil Pump

Different bar lengths, wood types and sawing techniques require different amounts of oil. The controlled-delivery oil pump allows the user to select just the right amount of oil for the job.

Decompression Valve

The decompression valve, vents compression in the cylinder to reduce the cranking effort.

Chainsaw review

There's 2 lovely nuts holding the side panel on. Even with proper tightening one vibrated off on the first day using it, lost to the abyss. Unsure why there's no locking nut.

Thank You for your review. STIHL Chainsaws don't require a locking nut, provided the bar & chain have been fitted correctly the bar nut should never vibrate off. We recommend you take your saw into your local store to have it looked at by technician. STIHL SHOP

Great saw

I purchased the 311 20’ chainsaw from Main Street Palmerston North stihl shop on Thursday, felled two 12 metre trees roughly 16inches across. Absolute piece of ****, too easy, I then ringed it up and the saw had no trouble at all. Best toy/tool ever. Used ****** all petrol too. I love it😊
